Creating ideas worth doing with #ScotlandIsNow
When we began TEDxGlasgow, our mission was to build a community around Ideas Worth Doing. Yes, we create a stage for imaginative and enterprising ideas, but what is an idea worth if no one does anything with it?
Scottish Enterprise shares this thirst for change.
Scottish Enterprise partnered with TEDxGlasgow to support last year’s event, as part of the #ScotlandIsNow campaign. It’s thanks to this kind of leg-up that we can showcase Glasgow’s enterprising ideas to the world.
Speaking about what the partnership means to Scottish Enterprise, John Booth, Director of Corporate Affairs and Marketing, said:
“If we don’t connect, if we don’t collaborate, or broaden our minds, then we’re always going to do the same things and get the same results. The connection we’ve made with TEDxGlasgow is invaluable. Together we’re drawing more people to the city, attracting business, and ultimately strengthening Scotland’s economy.”
Together with co-hosts Snook and Dark Matter Labs, Scottish Enterprise held two TEDx lab sessions.
One questioned how Scotland could build a more entrepreneurial society. The other explored how we create an economy that’s more collaborative, empathetic, fair, sustainable, and creative.
TEDx lab participants were challenged to think of ways to make entrepreneurship more inclusive, push socially-conscious businesses to the forefront, and empower companies to shape a more virtuous economy.
We like to think of our partnerships as a two-way street. That partners get out of TEDxGlasgow, what they put in – and then some more. By working with Scottish Enterprise, we can strengthen Scotland’s reputation as an attractive place for investment. And help grow our economy in a way that benefits us all.
