Sparking Community Action

Our everyday lives are founded in community,  it’s that human spark that we feel when we come from the same place, share attitudes or have interests in common – it means everything.  A strong community is a giver of safety, happiness,  confidence and a common purpose that  can change and transform lives.

Whether  a business community,  a school or charity, Federated Hermes, the owner of Skypark business destination in Glasgow, is harnessing the power of community and recognising  that we need one another more than ever to unite in our purpose in building a sustainable future for all.

Skypark is a vibrant 560,000 sq ft business campus  located on the western fringe of Glasgow. Comprised over 6 buildings, it houses 32 businesses across the office, research, light manufacturing and leisure sectors.

Although the UN Sustainable Development Goals are highly interdependent, the individual goal that Skypark is most closely aligned to is Number 11, which is to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.  A leader in responsible investment,  Federated Hermes invests in places rather than buildings, where people want to play, work, live and build a community.

Innovation through community is a central pivot between Skypark’s culture and business. It evolves to meet the needs of tenants and the wider community, prioritising tenant well-being,  philanthropy, charity work and the arts.

We look beyond our square footage though – community is not inward looking. On our doorstep: the Pyramid in Anderston, our occupiers have given their time to volunteer and over the years we have donated more than 3600 Christmas presents. We provide space for Be Someone's Santa to sort and distribute Christmas packs, and enabled charity Launch Foods to deliver 300 hot meals daily to school kids around the city. With our quirky ways of fundraising, we have given over £40K to Cash for Kids and amputee charity Finding Your Feet, which helped in the formation of 50 plus clubs for those with limb loss. We have tie ups with local football team Finnieston FC, providing sponsorship during their 2019/20 season, and we fundraise for causes close to our hearts.

Our donated gallery space is currently showing an exhibition by former Skyparker now photojournalist Laura Coventry, who captured images of Glasgow’s lockdown. We also regularly host exhibitions for The Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow International. When the music industry temporarily shut down, we filmed live sessions with up-and-coming Scottish bands, and streamed them for our tenants and wider audience.

Community matters at Skypark, we are more than a workplace. From platinum award winning cycle facilities and complimentary bike servicing for our cyclists, online clubs (Love To Ride, Feast Thursday and the Skypark Bicycle Users Group) monthly social meet ups and regular e-newsletters with exclusive discounts for staff, and initiatives to make art accessible for all – we have a lot going on. An onsite café, external garden, full service gym, a new outdoor coffee pod (coming soon), car parking, 24-hour security staff and a renowned 5-star concierge service.

Skypark is a vibrant community representing all that is good in entrepreneurial Scotland, a  community united in the  purpose of building a sustainable future for all.
